

Greater Manchester Medical Device Leadership Group Meeting
Arjun Sikand, Commercial Director of Health Innovation Manchester will be presenting their recent development of a Healthcare Innovation Adoption Pathway. This holistic approach to more integrated health and social care spanning primary (GP), community (nurse specialist referral), secondary (hospitals) and tertiary (specialised hospitals) and social care, plans to accelerate the adoption of innovative healthcare solutions that offer better patient outcomes and potential cost benefits cutting across traditional silo budgets.
Marcus Orton, CEO of Swabtech Ltd will give an update on developments with NICE and the launch of the Medtech Early Technical Assessment (META) tool developed by NICE Scientific Advice in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GMAHSN).
Alistair Williamson, Managing Director of Lucid Innovation will discuss the challenges facing connected healthcare solutions. As consumers increasingly appreciate the benefits of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, interest in the potential of connected healthcare solutions is at an all time high. Connecting systems offer immense benefits, but healthcare is a highly regulated environment. Drawing on Lucid’s development experience, Alistair will provide a brief introduction to some of the core considerations in connected device development. Useful take-aways will include sources of information on data security, emissions, immunity, compatibility, power and compliance.
