One of the many challenges of design for use in potentially explosive environments is mitigating the risk of accidents by making products and systems simple to use.
So, when CGD approached us to design a gas analysis system, the first thing we considered was how operators could interact with the technology safely and reliably.
CGD devices remotely monitor emissions in hazardous environments such as land fill sites and the petrochemical industry. By observing and understanding people and processes, Lucid’s design team gained the insight to develop new solutions to unmet and under-met user needs. We focused on quicker, easier, more robust and reliable approaches to setting and maintaining networks of devices that wirelessly monitor emissions. Constraints overcome included a design that met ATEX and ICEX approvals that fitted existing bore-holes and other mounting needs.
Innovations included an accessible system, enabling easy assembly and the quick change of sensor modules. The associated data capture and analysis app is designed for intuitive navigation, with clear representation of significantly detailed outputs.
