The Situation
Everyone has faced that sinking feeling when valuables are lost or stolen. Bluetooth technology offered a solution.
Alerting a parent if a child has wandered off. Reminding tradesmen about forgotten tools. Preventing pickpocketing or sneak thefts. By attaching a smart tag to your valuables and pairing to your smartphone or tablet, you could raise the alarm.
The Challenge
Mi-Zone had worked with other designers previously – feedback suggested that designs needed miniaturisation and refinement.
Developing packaging with significant point-of-sale protection and presence for the new product was critical. Balancing cost, reliable manufacture and value, we worked towards a tight deadline to get the product on shelf.
Our Solution
Our product designers worked with Mi-Zone’s electronics development partners to create and refine a series of ideas, which were extensively tested with retail buyers.
Integrating PCB layout with mechanical CAD, our in-house 3D printer was used to build prototypes – allowing the team to evaluate ergonomics and check design fits prior to production.
We assumed responsibility for pack design and managing manufacturing of packaging and mechanical elements, checking production parts with in-house 3D scan facilities.
The Result
Apple, Carphone Warehouse and others are anticipating huge sales for the summer season. Delivered on-time and designed for high-speed, high-volume production, Mi-Zone hopes to maintain sales and take market share from competitors.
