Better control for novices and professionals alike
Genie Complete is a salon console offering a range of innovative cosmetic treatments via a touch screen graphical user interface.
Working with our client's salon trainers, Lucid Group's graphic designers created a series of template options capable of guiding therapists intuitively through a diverse range of treatments.

Our software developers delivered demonstration prototypesenabling feedback, improvement & debugging.
Design proposals were developed into a simple to understand, multi-option menu that gives therapists complete control of a large range of treatments.

A winning bet
Lucid Group's experience in graphical user interface design dates back to the early '90s when Alistair Williamson, Lucid Group's MD was the product designer responsible for Coral Racing's first interactive betting consoles.
Alistair's design used a carefully designed touch screen interface to intuitively guide unfamiliar punters through simple & complex bets, take their money & issue a slip.

A holistic approach to design included the industrial design of the console, product & interface graphics, design for prototyping & manufacture.
Coral Bet is one of many graphical user interface design solutions created by Alistair's team & manufactured by Barcrest, at the time a Bass plc business.

Barcrest: Enhancing the gaming experience

User Interface Design
Enhancing the gaming experience
The success of Barcrest's Genesis interface kept the product in manufacture for 10 years, housing hundreds of different amusement games.
Lucid Group's Alistair Williamson led the team that created a design with unprecedented freedom for games design, ergonomic design for consumers & assembly & simplicity of construction.
Genesis was designed around people. We observed gamers & concluded that eliminating stretching & stooping delivered a more comfortable experience, increasing revenue with uninterrupted play.

After figuring out the simplest way to get cash in as low & out as high as possible, the team adapted the design to give games designers additional depth & positioning freedom.
Basic models of the concept were then taken onto the shop floor, & with Barcrest's production managers we split the design into logical sub-assemblies. Cell manufacture enabled Barcrest to split production of game specific & common elements.
Genesis user interface design led to positive consumer association, encouraging gamers to try the latest offering from Barcrest for 10 years.
